Oh, and Nigel "that hotspot mark could have come from anywhere" Llong is the third umpire NS.
I know you're not great on cricket from this century, but he's English.
So, like most of your far fetched stories of life in olden days, that's about as tenuous a link to the topic as is required surely.

No, it wasn't excessive.
He got hurt because he ducked into one which didn't get up. He also turned his head. He was hit ON the helmet, not the neck. It was poor technique.
And, if you're telling me that you think Australia, a team with some of the cuntiest fast bowlers in history, would just bowl gentle half volleys to someone who was injured instead of testing, then I'd say you don't really know cricket.

Thought you wanted ENGLISH cricket, Northern? Sheffield Shield is on HIATUS while the Big Bash is on.
I always like it when they ask Cook about his time as ODI Captain. DUMMY joins the toys going out of the pram.

Cook has more class than most other cricketers put together, so he would never spit out any dummies.

Any news on Alistair 'Cookie' COOK , Northern, after his meeting with Strauss? Has he spat the dummy or will he carry on as Captain?

He can blame the T20 format for the damage.
15 years ago the bat would have probably weighed half as much than they do nowadays!

Been a lot of head hits Sam Whiteman got sconned batting for the Scorchers at the Gabba and had to sit out the last game. Matthew Renshaw missed the last two days of the third Pakistan Test. Got one in the head from Amir and then again when put in at short leg when Handscomb took the gloves.
Cant believe a keeper has ever been hit in the face by a bat handle standing about 8 yds back. That looks like a fractured cheekbone by the look of the bump on Nevil's bonce

Thinking about it, he was also the keeper who had to go off the other day for concussion tests after getting hit in the head with the ball wasn't he?
Fuck me, these things come in 3's so keep your distance from that unlucky fucker.

Ha ha, who's watching the big bash?
Hodge just took a hefty swipe and the bat flew out of his hands and cleaned out Neville behind the stumps, who was ball watching and hadn't seen it coming.

I think it's great when bowlers target injured players, excellent viewing seeing them hobble around trying to avoid missiles.
With the rules on that back guard, they surely need to stop players being able to be given out if it falls off and dislodges the bails like happened to Roy recently.
Very harsh when that's completely out of the players hands.

Understand he was hit behind the left ear. The new helmets with the neck stem probably saved him from the fate of poor Phil Hughes. The man had a broken hand and was struggling with yorkers. Was the short pitched bowling by Wagner excessive? I remember trying to get players caught in the outfield after being smacked over the fence for hours on end was his usual plan of attack.

Enough to kill half a dozen soft-hearted Australian test openers, but not enough to kill any Bangladeshis.
You know how Wagner bowls. Well, he just did that.
There weren't any no balls for height, put it that way.

The report I read was that he was 'peppered ' Assume that's what you meant when you were getting excited about him being 'worked over'. Was it excessive short pitched bowling? You were watching I presumed.

How many bouncers were bowled at the injured player that you almost killed?

So, after scoring 595/8 declared in their first innings, Bangladesh lost by 8 wickets, and knocked Australia off the top spot (and the second) for the highest first innings total in a loss.
Bit of a shame actually, because they really did bat well in their first innings on an admittedly deceptively docile track, and they lost a couple to injury, but it was a pretty good test match.
